It appears my most recent post and/or other posts on the Emergent Church has come to the attention of Tim Boucher: Occult Investigator. Yeah, that's right...he's a real live invesigator, peering into myths, magic, saints, and superheroes (at least that's his byline).
I'm not quite sure what to think about this one, folks. This is not exactly the type of link a Christian blogger raves about, you know what I mean? But God's providence in the world wide web is just as strange, but in a sovereign way, of course.
I'd encourage you, if you have any web-surfing time, to Read Tim's comments for yourself, and see what you think. As scary as this is the fact that I was notified about this link by a fellow who walked down the Emergent Church path only to eventually abandon the gospel and Christianity and is now a self-proclaimed pagan. How disappointing. To be sure, one case does not necessarily make THE case against the EC, but it sure doesn't help, does it?
P.S. By the way Tim, I haven't 'written off' the arguments you left on my previous post. I just figure, what can I do or say? We're arguing from two totally different planes of spiritual-consciousness here, man.

Hi Rob, I'm delighted to engage in this conversation with you. I've posted my response here, if you're interested at all in continuing. I hope you don't think I'm being overly hard on you; I try to be equally difficult in my scrutiny of all religious beliefs and traditions. I don't believe God wants us to shut off or ignore either our critical faculties or our nagging doubts. Faith, I think, is supposed to be a constant struggle. Cheers!
Hi Rob, I surfed over from Tim's site, where I am a regular reader. I'm not sure I understand what you and Tim being on different spiritual planes has to do with Tim's point about trust. It seems to me that the whole idea of trust - trusting and being trusted - is fundamentally human and common to everyone, no matter what their spiritual orientation. Nor do I understand what's "scary" about Tim's response to you, unless you're all bug-eyed about seeing Satan everywhere but in your soapdish or whatever. I kind of take it for granted that you and Tim would be on different spiritual planes. What would be i
Anon,
You misunderstood my comment about "scary." What is scary is that the one who linked to my EC comments from Tim's site was one who formerly considered himself a Christian, but after walking down the EC pathway, he is not one any longer. THus, the scary part is that EC, per the dude who commented, led him down the path to paganism. Thanks for the comments.
Hmm, it appears my comment was truncated. What I tried to say was, what would be interesting would be to compare your POV with Tim's and see where you differ, and where you coincide. That I would consider to be an interesting exchange. But what it seems like at this point is less of an exchange than ships passing in the night.
